Not so happy day. :(

Sadly, on September 13th 2008. Harley was laid to rest. My heart breaks to even say it. He was and always will be my favorite chicken. He was my buddy. But his sickness was just too much for him. It makes me even more sad that he is buried here. I wanted him to be able to move with us. (If we ever move!!!) He has a nice little grave. Complete with his own rooster silhouette. I planted fuchsia cockscomb on his grave, and I have it outlined in sandstone. He is over in the side yard, right across from the side porch. I visit him often. I know it sounds silly. But, I always said he's not just a rooster, he's my pet. I wish I had never sold Rocky that weekend in August. I would still have a beautiful son of Harley's. I do still have a daughter if his. But she looks nothing like him. I thank God for the time I had with him. (Thanks, Lord)

I do have some good news, I found on the BYC a lady who lives in Wadsworth and she is giving all of her chickens away! I am taking every chicken she has. Jen wants some. Milan wants some. Aly wants some. I feel like is was a huge blessing to stumble across that deal!! We are going up this weekend to get them. There are 28 of them. She even has cuckoo marans!!! WHOOT! :D I am really happy about that.

Things are finally back to normal around here. Hurricane Ike hit Ohio with such furry! Jen was without power for like 5 days!!! Angie was without, Milana, the local schools, even Lexi's teacher in Newark was without for 7 days!!!! I am so thankful and blessed. We did not loose power at all! (Thanks God!!!) I am not sure what we would have done. Glad we did not have to find out. ;)

And finally, Alexis is doing great in school. She is way over her hours. She should have 120 by Friday. She has 126 hours and 50 mins today (Thursday)!! And we have not even begun school for the day! I am so proud of her. She is doing so great. We are in a nice routine and occasionally we will do things that are not scheduled in! That's ok, it is part of the fun of homeschooling!!! We have even taken 2 field trips! Last week we went to the exotic auction. We got to pet a 2 week old cougar! Zebras, elk, skunks, and peafowl! We seen all kinds of awesome animals. It was great!!!! Well, I need to get school started. Have a wonderful week/end!
Blessings,
Chareia :)
